Each prenatal yoga class is unique, and informed by the check-in at the beginning of class. Usually this is hatha style, with gentle slow flows and some restorative asana sprinkled in. This class aims to build community and provide a safe and appropriate practice for the entire length of your pregnancy. Class begins with a thorough warm up that will release the spine, shoulders and hips and then move into a purposeful sequence to specifically strengthen and mobilize the joints.

Our teachers will often weave in information about how some postures and breathe techniques can have practical applications for side-effects of pregnancy such as anxiety, insomnia, heart burn. Class will close with a couple of longer more restorative stretches integrate and conclude practice. This class is suitable for all levels of experience with clear alignment instruction and a slow gentle pace. 

Props for this class: You are welcome to use blocks, bolsters, pillows, and or a blanket. We will show you how to use these items which will aid in comfort and mobility, but don’t worry if you don’t have them, we can make do with what you have at home.

Prenatal Yoga for Labour and Birth - on Zoom

Thursday - 7-8pm - Clarissa

Prenatal Yoga for Labour and Birth focuses on preparing, toning and stretching muscles and joints which will be supporting and working for you through labour. We will practice yoga postures for various stages of labour. We will practice relaxation and breathing techniques as well as visualization, affirmations, mantras and techniques to teach the labouring person methods to allow for mind/body/breath connection.

Yoga for Labour & Birth is suitable for pregnant parents at any stage of pregnancy who are ready to think about and prepare for labour and birth.

This class will begin and end with a check-in to answer questions and to feel a sense of community with other birthing folks. We will practice many different labour and birth positions throughout the class. Please have a chair or couch nearby, pillows, and a blanket. Optional, but highly recommended, is a birthing ball.

Our Drop-In Classes are $16 each, or $13 if you buy a punch card of 10 classes.

(The class fee is non-refundable. If you pay for the class and then are unable to attend, please contact us as soon as possible, and we will arrange for a credit to your account.)

Punch Card Policy: Punch cards never expire, so you can use the classes left over from your pregnancy for parent-baby classes. Punch cards are non-refundable, but fully transferable, so you can gift or sell your left-over classes to someone else if you need to.
