My dear old friend Eileen McGann is one of Canada's folk music treasures. She has toured extensively in Canada, the United States and Great Britain and she was nominated for Traditional Singer of the Year at the 2011 Canadian Folk Music Awards for her latest CD, Pocketful of Rhymes
.
Her fans have been begging her for years to put out a songbook and she finally HAS. It is a beautiful book, full of her drawings and paintings, because she is also an excellent graphic artist as well as an amazing musician and songwriter.
To launch the songbook in Victoria, Eileen will be giving a concert at Mothering Touch on Saturday January 21 at 7:30pm. Tickets ($15) are available at Mothering Touch and I recommend getting them in advance - the ceoncert will sell out, I'm sure!
